Hospitality since 1937
There are places whose special character needs no explanation. You step inside – and you feel it. Hotel Post Lech is one of those places. A house that has evolved over generations while always remaining true to itself. Owned by the Moosbrugger family since 1937, the Post is today one of the most traditional hotels in the Austrian Alps – a 5-star hotel in Lech am Arlberg and a member of Relais & Châteaux.
Family-Owned Since 1937
The roots of the house go back centuries. A building stood on this site as early as around 1650, and it later became home to Lech's first Imperial and Royal post office. In 1937, Erich and Irma Moosbrugger took over what was then an inn with a farm and general store.
As Lech developed into one of the Alps' most renowned winter sports destinations, the Post evolved alongside it. Over the decades, the former inn became a 5-star luxury hotel in the Arlberg region. Thoughtfully expanded and continuously renewed, yet always unmistakable in character.
Today, Sandra and Florian Moosbrugger run the Post in the third generation. The personal presence of the host family is as much a part of the hotel as its many long-standing team members and guests who have been returning for decades.
Evolved Over Time, Never Simply Designed
Fine woods, hand-painted furniture, antiques, carefully selected fabrics and lovingly preserved details tell stories of different eras. No two rooms are quite alike, and every traditional parlour has a character of its own. The past remains visible, blending naturally with the comforts of a contemporary luxury hotel. Even the distinctive pale pink façade, which has characterised the building since the 1970s, has long become a familiar part of Lech's village scenery.
The Quiet Side of Luxury
At the Post, luxury never seeks the spotlight. It reveals itself in the little things: the peace of an early morning, a familiar greeting, a favourite room that feels a little more like your own with every visit. A beautifully laid table, an evening by the fireplace and, above all, the time people take for one another.
Perhaps it is precisely this feeling that brings so many guests back to Lech and the Post, year after year. Some have been returning for decades, others now bring the next generation. They know the house, recognise familiar faces and have their favourite places. And at some point, arriving no longer feels simply like checking into a hotel. It feels like coming home.
Tradition with an Eye to the Future
A house with almost nine decades of family history does not live on its past alone. It thrives through the thoughtful way its story continues to unfold.
Hotel Post Lech has therefore continued to evolve over the years. As early as 1965, one of Austria's first indoor swimming pools was built here. Further extensions followed, along with new rooms and suites, restaurants and an extensive beauty and spa area.
Throughout every change, the aim has remained the same: to offer contemporary comfort without losing the soul of the house. Because true tradition does not mean standing still. It means knowing what is worth preserving.
A Home in the Arlberg Mountains
Outside lies Lech, surrounded by its magnificent Alpine landscape. In winter, it is home to one of the most renowned ski regions in the Alps. In summer, it becomes a retreat for hikers, golfers and those who appreciate life's finer pleasures.
Inside, another world awaits. Warm and inviting parlours, refined cuisine, spacious retreats, spa experiences and that unmistakable atmosphere created when hospitality is not simply a service, but a genuine passion.
To this day, the Post combines the grandeur of a 5-star luxury hotel in Lech am Arlberg with the warmth and personal touch of a family-run house.
Since 1937. A story that continues with every generation.
